Foliage Follow Up – July 2011

Foliage Follow-Up is the brainchild of Pam Penick over at Digging. As Pam states, “it’s a way to remind ourselves of the importance of foliage in the garden”. A very worthwhile task, as foliage is the true star when it comes to interest in the garden. So enjoy these photos, and when your done head over to Digging, and see what is adding interest in Pam’s garden!

  1. Thanks for joining in this month, Scott. I adore your hostas and especially that stunning Hakonechloa. It’s the plant I’d most love to grow from cooler regions — so beautiful, and such a great groundcover. I shall admire from afar.

    1. Glad to take part Pam! I’m with you on the Hakone grass, and so are my customers. Rarely does one not gush over it. Great color in the shade garden!

Thanks for Foliage Follow Up also. Now that I’ve finally posted, I hope to do so more often.

  2. Scott these are stunning. I LOVE foliage and really believe that if we design with foliage before flower we get the best gardens ever. My favorite Heuchare is ‘Obsinian’. Have you tried Mukdenia? Great foliage plant! Thanks for this post.

    1. Hi Monique, Thank you so much, a very fine compliment coming from you! Obsidian is a great Heuchera, and no I haven’t used Mukdenia yet. Funny you should ask though, I just showed it to a client for a project we will be starting soon. Can’t wait to start using it.
